About
Growing up in a Caribbean family (Haiti), I learned about the value of being of service to others. My passion for helping others increased after embracing Islam. Learning about the openness, gentleness and care Prophet Muhammad offered everyone he came into contact with has shaped how I provide therapy for my client. I pride myself on offering a judgment-free, comforting, safe space that fosters healing and growth.
When I experienced a loss of purpose and an inability to tap into my inner strength, I had the blessing of meeting a female mentor Dr Tamara Gray, who gently guided me by encouraging me to re-write my narrative of my sensitivity as my power rather than a weakness. While completing the Ribaat Academic Teachers certification (levels 1 and 2) and offering emotional and spiritual care to female converts at Rabata, I realized I wanted to be trained in tangible skills to support Muslim women. Which prompted my decision to pursue a master’s in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto.
I have provided emotional and spiritual support for female converts with a female-led non-profit organization called Rabata. I completed one unit of clinical pastoral education with the Muslim Chaplaincy and another with the University Health Network. I am trained in a client-focused and spiritually-integrated approach using tools and skills from DBT, narrative, and solution-focused therapy. I will support you in discovering your inner strength by collaborating to establish achievable goals to empower you to face life’s challenges. I specialize in working with individuals who experience emotional and spiritual distress and tend to feel stuck due to the trials and tribulations we face in life. I support clients to rewrite their narratives and use their stories for growth and transformation.
Together, we will establish skills to build emotional and spiritual resilience. We’ll work on key concepts and practical tips that will promote healing.
